TRAPPED IN CYCLES
Date: 24.08.2024
Location: Candid Arts Gallery, London
Event Overview: The show explores life’s cycles through performance, projections, installations and music.
Cycles are ever-present within our lives, manifesting in various forms across natural, social, and personal domains. These cycles, particularly certain natural ones, can feel reassuring in their consistency. In many ways, they provide the framework by which we organise our lives. Furthermore, understanding and acknowledging these cycles can help us navigate life more effectively, enabling us to anticipate change and appreciate the interconnectedness of our world.
However, the inevitability of cycles can sometimes feel inescapable rather than reassuring. One can feel trapped. This can occur on a personal level, connected to daily life (the wake, work, sleep repeat routine), mental health, relationships, and the cycle of life and death. Likewise, it can also stem from a broader, more philosophical perspective, such as the repetitiveness of history, cultures, and human thought.
This exhibition aims to explore these cycles, delving into their various manifestations and the complex emotions they evoke. Through art, we seek to illuminate the beauty and order they can bring, while also acknowledging the challenges and constraints they can impose.
Experience an immersive evening investigating the cycles that shape our lives, from nature to personal growth. This unique event blends live performances with stunning projections, offering a captivating exploration of the beauty and challenges these cycles bring.
